Two-Time Olympic Trampolinist · Team USA · Trampoline Gymnastics · On The Ascension Podcast

Born in Minsk, Belarus and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana from the age of six, Alexi Shostak is a two-time US Olympic trampolinist who competed at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. Raised inside a family gymnastics legacy, he pairs world-class athletic discipline with meditation, breathwork, and a study of flow state as hyper-presence.
I sat down with Alexi to talk about the Olympics and we ended up talking about presence.
He carried his family from Belarus to Louisiana inside a gymnastics legacy, turned pro at fifteen, and became one of the only US men to bounce onto the Olympic stage twice, Tokyo behind closed doors, then the dream of Paris. But the part that stayed with me wasn’t the medals he chased, it was how he found his deepest flow state through meditation and breathwork, how he learned to be inspired by the journey instead of hyped for the event. Stress is a story about a future that hasn’t happened. There’s no stress in presence, and he competes from there.
When you want to see what it looks like to chase a dream at the highest level without abandoning the present moment, Alexi is who I’d point you to.
